Transforming health access
Since 2010, Take Control Initiative (TCI) has made a difference to ensure that Tulsans have the resources and information to decide if and when they want to become pregnant.
Putting Tulsans first
The initiative is guided by a commitment to honoring and supporting individual autonomy and safety. In coalition with a strong network of partners, TCI builds sustainable bridges between community and health centers.
Providing support
In effort to promote community health, TCI provides free access to all birth control methods, IUD and implant removals, Lyft rides to partner clinics, morning-after pill kits, education workshops and technical assistance for local health care providers.
Throughout all of their efforts, TCI seeks to:
- Promote access all birth control options and help Tulsans advocate for patient rights
- Support health centers and community-based organizations as they implement patient-centered practices that affirm dignity, trust and respect
- Remove systemic barriers, including financial, transportation, language and logistical barriers to health center access
Making an impact
TCI’s work reaches thousands of Tulsans each year — resulting in the widespread distribution of contraceptives, training of health care partners and support for community health.
