The Woody Guthrie Center

Sparking social change

Woody Guthrie’s songs celebrate the beauty and bounty of America and seek the truth about our country and its people. He turned complex ideas about democracy, human rights and economic equality into simple songs that all Americans could embrace.

The Woody Guthrie Center honors the influential folk musician’s life and legacy by educating visitors about his relevance today, his important role in American history, and his commitment to activism.

The center offers on-site programming, classroom materials and youth music programs, artist-in-residence programs, school outreach, internship and fellowship opportunities and the Woody Guthrie Center Archives. Each year, a combined 30,000 visitors, 65% of whom come from outside Oklahoma, experience The Woody Guthrie Center and adjacent Bob Dylan Center.
