Project Commutation

Criminal Justice Reform

Helping Tulsans rebuild their lives

Project Commutation has been a driving force for criminal justice reform. Their efforts have led to an increase in granted commutations, which reduces the length of incarceration for those with excessive prison sentences. Commutations contribute to a more balanced system and are an effective tool in reducing the prison population without compromising community safety.

Upon an individual's reentry to society, Project Commutation connects individuals to housing, basic needs, employment, counseling and obtaining identification. Additional legal assistance is provided after release related to fines and fees, outstanding warrants and child custody issues.

Since its founding in 2018, the initiative has supported more than 5,000 people and continues to represent nearly 100 clients every month — all in effort to reduce cycles of incarceration and help people rebuild their lives.
